DESCRIPTION & CONDITION
This auction is for an antique American made, cold painted, solid cast metal St. Bernard in great vintage condition.
This dog is marked with the K & O Co. brand and has visible age related handling paint chipping in several areas, which
is very common on these antique animal figures
.
K & O Co. a.k.a. Kronheim & Oldenbusch was an American metal foundry in business from 1895 to 1939. They produced many types of cast metal products from book ends, which were the heart of their business to novelty figurines of this type.
This item is assumed to be a product made at the turn of the century to compete with the very popular cold painted Vienna bronzes of the same time period but at a lesser cost. K&O did not produce a whole lot of these and therefore are quite rare, especially in this condition.

, this rare and very fine dog figurine will look great in any cold painted metal animal collection or even in any other related collection that you see fit.
