    Description

    Description:
These bookends were bought at auction in New Jersey to show with my nutty book collection.
I've reduced my collection since moving and putting these lovely pieces up for sale.
The figures are modeled after the statue in the Louvre called “Seated Scribe.”
The man sits on a pallet and holds a scroll.
Made of pottery, they appear to be bronze with a dark patina. However, the magnet does react so not bronze or any other metal.
Each piece measures 6.5” tall with a base that is 3.25” x 3.75”.
There is green felt on the bottom.
Unfortunately, I don't know the age.
    Condition
    :
One tiny chip on the corner of one of the bases (see close-up photo).
    Some minor surface scuffs.
One area has the residue from an old paper label.
Please review the pictures closely as they are part of the description.
