Very Large Koninklijk Gouda Royal Holland Charger, "Guliana" Floral Design, 1932
This very large, gorgeous charger/wall plate was made at the Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH) works in Gouda, Holland.
The design features a very attractive and color floral design, painted on an off-white ground, surrounded with the familiar Gouda wavy Art Nouveau border in black, lined with olive green. The scalloped edge of the plate is lined in brown.
Dimensions: 15-3/4" in diameter x 2" high; the base is 7-3/4" in diameter.
This is in excellent original condition, with no chips, cracks or other damage. It is totally uncrazed.
Marked on the bottom with the Gouda "little house" along with the koninklijk "crown" and "5110/40 / GULIANA / KONINKLIJK GOUDA / ROYAL / HOLLAND". There is also a 1932 date mark. The letter "N", or possibly "Z", is incised in the glaze on the bottom (probably a finisher's mark).
