DESCRIPTION:
Offered is this recently discovered on the
North Shore of Massachusetts,
antique
Roycroft,
signed
early 20th century

Arts and Crafts,
hand-tooled, hammered and chisel figured, bulbous, concave-faced, copper metal letter opener.
It's clearly signed in the middle of the facia with a
Roycroft
maker's mark stamped into the copper. It's estate fresh and new to the marketplace, having been found in
southern New Hampshire,
just north of the
Massachusetts' North Shore
estate it was removed from. It would be in truly exceptional, very well-preserved antique condition, less for the slightly disfigured end of the copper letter opener, with evidence it was unfortunately at some point in time, previously used to most likely open a lidded can, as the tapered, narrow end of the letter opener now suffers from some waviness. This condition isn't fatal and isn't readily noticeable but nevertheless exists. The piece still has its original copper metal patina and wonderfully artisan tooled, hand scalloped surfaces, with the facia resembling carved wood. It hasn't been chemically cleaned or polished. It doesn't suffer from any noticeable surface abrasions, nicks, scuffs, flat spots or edge flea-bites. From the venerated

Still terrific and still very handsome.
CONDITION:
Fair to Good overall antique condition.
