    Antique Victorian Cast & Patinated Spelter - Egyptian Sphinx Figure - Unusual!

    This piece was acquired at auction and has been a great addition on my bookshelf.
    The piece is spelter with a bronzed patina.
    It is not mounted on marble which makes me think it may have originally adored a mantel clock, many of which were made in France.
    Measures 8” wide, 7.75” high, 3.” deep.
    Depicts a man that looks like Thomas Jefferson, in colonial dress, holding a book.
    I don't see a foundry mark.

    Excellent...seems to be near original condition.
    Only "flaws" I see are around the boot (see close-up photos) and a mark on the hand
