18th C Dated German Engraved Pewter Canister Jar Caddy Floral Wrigglework

Description

Large octagonal pewter tea caddy or water jar, with a screw-on lid and beautiful engraved (wrigglework) floral design with seven different flowers, the initials R.E. in a wreath, and the year 1798. Measures about 7 inches high and 4 1/4 inches across, weighs about 1 pound 12 ounces.
Unknown maker (just an initial E), city mark on the bottom
with an image of Fortuna,
from the German town of Gluckstadt in the Schleswig region (Sch).
In very good condition with only light tarnish, no major dents or scratches. See pictures for condition.
